Ethel
was born in Alveley in 1913 and later married
Sidney "Dines" France. They lived at
Peacock Hill, Alveley.
Henry
France
Henry was born
in Alveley in 1865, eldest son of John and Mary
France. By the age of fifteen he had already
started work at Highley Colliery.
He married Jane
Findlay (daughter of Scotsman Francis Findlay) at
Alveley Church in November 1890 and they settled
into a small cottage near "The New
Inns" and had three children; Gladys (born
1892), Henry (born 1894) and Wilfred (born1896)
But on April
22nd 1896 tragedy struck when Henry was killed in
an accident at the Colliery. An Inquest was held
on April 24th and he was buried in Alveley
Churchyard on 25th April 1896.
